Can't you just hear Jer crooning out "Ben".

Or better yet, let Phil sing it.........

Okay, now I beg your indulgence and forgiveness for this mini-rant, but here's what has my butt chapped.

There are two countries in the world right now that are at a standstill.

Millions of Iranians (Iranis??) are in the streets right now, protesting and demanding basic freedoms, and doing so at real risk to their lives. They are dying for their efforts to enact change. To me that seems noble and newsworthy.

Millions (okay fine, thousands) of Americans are in the streets or glued to a television set right now mourning the loss of a supremely talented, enormously gifted, horribly exploited and tortured soul that was Michael Jackson.

CNN and Fox are giving the hour by hour countdown to the autopsy.

Am I the only guy in the world who thinks that is pretty jammed up?

Or am I just a heartless bastard?

not heartless, but maybe a bastard.

Sadly it sounds as if the Iran situation is winding down. Protests were being cancelled and crowds dwindling was the last i heard before 24 hr Jacko coverage started. I do think your right to get upset about the coverage. The man, while he brought most of his problems with the media on to himself, probably deserves to rest in peace. Does it really matter why he had a heart attack? Did it make you feel any different about Elvis or Jerry?

On the lighter side, they had a going away party for me in miami last week and someone decided an appropriate gift was a bottle of 18 year old Macallan. Even better that someone was an attractive blonde!

Hell, an 18 yr old Mac is sweet delivered by an ugly blonde. Have you cracked it yet? Heard nothing but good about the Mac 18 vattings now. They had a few rough years from 91-96 with the sherry content in the 18 yr old, but it is apparently a lot more subtle recently.

I may have to prescribe a bottle for myself now..........

Not yet, family doesn't move for another two weeks and its easier to travel with unopened bottles so I decided that it would be best if i held on to it instead of trying to finish it in two weeks.

i dont see what the issue is. i think it is great that the news agencies giving 24 hour coverage and showing people openy weeping over the death of a freakish pedophile - i mean, what better national icon could there be?? Next thing you know, William Gacy is going to be honored with a posthumous Nobel Peace Prize for heartfelt childcare issues.

Welcome back Sir Dire! :-) Sounds as if you and the new missus had a good time.

And yes please, do provide us more ( I'm quite sure ) wonderful pics of your new Bride.

A frazzled, fried and flipped DeadHead Groom can be quite the disturbing sight. :-D

( I know this from personal experience - TWICE! )

A belated congrats and I do wish you both happiness and many a year together. ;-)

JC

Good to hear about it all!

Trust that SDH and I were that odd looking Saguaro following you around...we kept fighting about who got the ass end of the damn thing but never did decide what hole was which....

We woulda had some great pics, but that Gila Woodpecker kept cracking the lens...I told SDH to blast the mutherfuckintweety bird, but he kept saying it was our state emblem or some such and refrained from blowing its cactus rattling brains out...

well THAT explains the somewhat schizophrenic saguaro - damn, and to think we almost ran over the two of you during the Pink Jeep Tour. that would have been a tragedy beyond telling.

and i think that woodpecker was taken out and eaten by the hawk just outside our resort room. damn, that hawk was hungry. It was tearing into that flesh like Michael Jackson with a....... (never mind, uncalled for)

;)

Hmmm, SDH and I might have to plan a Road Trip...it's not often you see "Big Dick" and "minnow" in one billboard, but trust me, it captures the essence of our team. I trust you and Rob to know which is which, or who is whom, with respect to those two monikers.
